MS/HS Bulletin February 27

Congratulations to Trevor Pray for placing 4th at the State Wrestling Tournament. 

Congratulations to all of the Destination Imagination teams that competed at Regionals this weekend. All six of the competitive teams that competed will be moving on to State DI in Pierre on March 25. Due to scheduling conflicts, one Groton team - Out of the Boxers - will be competing at Regionals in Custer in two weeks - good luck to them!

DI participants this year were:
         DIsfunctional Broad Squad: (Middle Level) Hailey Monson, Tiara DeHoet, Alyssa Fordham, Julianna Kosel and Sage Mortenson
        The Wonderful Nonsense: (Senior Level) Rylee Rosenau, Katlyn Kyar, and Kayla Jensen
         Out of the Boxers: (Senior Level) Jenifer Fjelstad, AnneMarie Smith, Emma Donley, Halie Yarborough, Nathan Fjelstad and Trey Wright

Senior shirts will be handed out Tuesday morning (Feb. 28).  A group picture will be taken at 12:00.  After the picture you will be dismissed for dinner.

Lunch line order will change today:  1st Lunch   8, 7, 6       2nd Lunch  10, 9, 12, 11

Girls’ basketball players turn in your uniforms to Mr. Wanner this week.  Make sure they are washed!

Anyone grades 7-12 interested in participating in Student Congress this spring should plan to attend a short meeting after school on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 in Room 308. If you cannot attend, but are interested, please contact Mrs. Gonsoir before March 1, 2017.

The dates and locations for the public meetings concerning the proposed building project at Groton Area MS/HS have been finalized.  Encourage your parents to attend the meetings.
Monday February 27th – Columbia American Legion – 7:00 PM
Monday, March 6th – Bristol Community Center – 7:00 PM
Thursday, March 9th – Groton Community Center – 7:00 PM

Applications due March 6 for swimming pool lifeguards, baseball/softball coaches, groundskeepers, ticket takers.  Visit City of Groton, 209 N Main or call 397-8422.

Table Talks on Wednesday.

8th grade students will participate in the 3M Engineering Expo on Tuesday, March 7th in the library conference room. Students will be divided into two groups, one group will go from 8:30-9:30 and the second from 9:30-10:30.
Data Match sales will continue through the week during lunch.  Cost is $1.

Summer registration for dual credit is now open.  Applications are on the counter in the office.  Please see Dr. Schwan for questions.

Grade 12:  Please bring computers to English 12 today.  
 
Grades 11-12  ACT:  Registration for the April 8 test is due online by March 3, 2017 .  Register at www.actstudent.org   and pay with a credit card.  You will test in Aberdeen or Groton but be sure to list Groton as your home school.  Remember you must upload a photo to register and then print the admission ticket.  Fee waivers are available – stop by the GO.  Other test dates are: June, Sept. Oct. and Dec.   See Mrs. Sternhagen if you have questions.
