MS/HS Bulletin October 27

Teacher in-service tomorrow so there will be no school.  Remind your parents to come to Parent/Teacher Conferences today.  1:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Annual School Wide Food Drive will be on Wednesday, November 9.  Meet in the arena lobby at 6:00.  Pizza and pop will be served after we're done collecting food to help those in need in our community.

Halloween Carnival sponsored by the GHS FFA Chapter on Sunday, October 30 from 3:30 – 5:30 at the GHS gym.  There will be games, face painting, raffle and hay rides.  Game tickets are 50 cents and Raffle tickets are $1.  Hay rides are free.  Please bring a bag for candy.  Money will be donated to a children’s charity. 

Groton will play Bennett County on Monday, October 31 at 7:00 p.m.   Reminded that Activity Passes cannot be used at play-off games.

The Groton Lions Club is sponsoring a poster contest for all students who will be ages 11, 12 or 13 on November 15, 2016.  The contest theme is “A Celebration of Peace.”  All artwork must be no smaller than 13 inches by 20 inches and no larger than 20 inches by 24 inches and must not be matted or framed.  All media are accepted.  No three dimensional entries will be accepted.  The use of lettering or numbering on the front of the poster is not allowed.  Artist signatures should be written on the back of the poster.  Posters must be submitted by Friday, October 28 for judging.  If you have any questions or wish to participate, see Mr. Schwan.

Flu shots will be given today at the elementary from 1:00 – 5:30 p.m.  Print off a consent form at grotonarea.com or pick up a copy in the office.  ** Students that ride the bus need to sign up in the office for a ride to the elementary for your shot.  Meet in the office at 11:40 a.m.   If you don’t ride the bus you will need to get your shot after school.    School is dismissed at 1:15 today. 

Groton Youth Rally presents Family Night of Champions Spin-Tacular Basketball Show on Wednesday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Groton Arena.  Tickets are $5 at the door or at DQ.  Family passes are $20. 

Trick or Treater’s are invited to the Golden Living Center on October 31 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.

Grades 11-12  ACT:  Registration for the December 10 test is due online by November 4, 2016 .  Register atwww.actstudent.org   and pay with a credit card.  You will test in Aberdeen but be sure to list Groton as your home school.  Remember you must upload a photo to register and then print the admission ticket.  Fee waivers are available – stop by the GO.  Other test dates are: Feb., April, and June.   See Mrs. Sternhagen if you have questions.

The Groton Area Snow Queen Committee would like to invite any freshman girls interested in Jr. Snow Queen and any Senior girls interested in Senior Snow Queen to meet for an informational meeting on Wednesday, October 26th in the Groton Library at 3pm.  Anyone interested in participating in this year's pageant is encouraged to attend.  The 2016 Snow Queen Pageant will be held Sunday, November 27th.

Testing should conclude around noon.  Those who are taking the writing assessment should be done by 12:45 p.m.  Be sure and do the practice test prior to the test.  Stop by the School Counseling Office if you need an extra copy.

SD Army National Guard is sponsoring a Paintball Tournament on Sunday, October 2nd.  Meet at 8:00 a.m. at 1201 W.
