MS/HS Bulletin January 31st, 2014

Good luck to the MathCounts students participating in the Northeastern South Dakota Chapter MathCounts Competition at SDSU on Saturday!

 

I have extra basketball clothing if anyone is interested. 1 adult medium t-shirt for $10. If interested stop in the library. 

 

Juniors--remember to bring your $5 and 12 wrapped bars to the office by Monday at 3:30!

 

Good luck to the Boys’ Basketball teams tonight against Webster. JH boys’ play at 3:00, “C” team will play at 5:15 with JV and Varsity to follow.

 

"Reminder to all SENIOR boys’ basketball players, statisticians, managers and cheerleaders. Please report to the commons area near the concessions immediately after the JV boys’ basketball game tonight, with your parents. You will line up and be recognized on the court before the Varsity game. Freshmen, Sophomore and Junior boys basketball players, statisticians, managers and cheerleaders, please report to the commons area as well at that time - you will be given your items to present to your families in the stands."

 

JO Volleyball players - Your signed forms (including the folder) need to be turned into Mr. Helvig as soon as possible.  See Coach Helvig if you need forms to fill out.

 

Seniors - Please get 3 senior pictures and a baby picture into Mrs. Hanten.  Thank you.

 

Students who remain in the school building after regular school hours must be under the direct supervision of an adult at all times.  Students not under the supervision of an adult will be asked to leave and will be expected to comply.  Students caught entering the building without permission after hours (i.e. coming into the building late at night) will be subject to disciplinary action.  Thank you – Mr. Schwan.

Saturday is the Groton Lions Wrestling Tournament at 10:00

 

The February FCCLA meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 4 during advisory in the FACS room.

 

February 10-14 is National FCCLA week, our chapter has several events and fundraisers planned to celebrate the week including:

*Crush cans that will be sold during lunch Feb 10, 11, and 12 and will delivered on Feb. 13.

 

*Pregnancy Belly Fundraiser - Put your extra change in the jar of your favorite male teacher who you would like to see wear the pregnancy simulation belly for one day!  The teacher with the most money will wear the belly for a whole day!  You can begin filling the jars on Feb. 5-11, they will be in office!

 

All proceeds will go towards Groton Community Improvement Projects.

Grade 11:  Youth Business Adventure:  Paper applications are due Jan. 31 to Mrs. Sternhagen.  YBA is a 1 week program held in June in which students learn about economic, management, and market-oriented issues.  It is a leadership experience in which all students (regardless of what career interest area) will benefit.  Cost is $250 but financial assistance is available if needed.  See Mrs. Sternhagen for the application.

Chapter MathCounts meets Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings, beginning at 7:45 a.m., in Mrs. Johnson's room #226.

 

Good luck to the girls’ basketball team tonight at Britton.

 

Britton-Hecla is having a food drive during the basketball game tonight.  They are hoping that Groton Fans would join in.  They will be giving away a free popcorn for every three food items donated.  They will also be selling pie at the game; each slice is $3 and all profits will be going to benefit their local pantry.

Sunday is the Annual Kiwanis Pancake Brunch at the Groton Community Center from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  Adults are $6, children are $3, childrenages 0 – 5 are free.

Valentine flower orders are now being taken between now and January 23rd for delivery on Thursday February 13th during advisory. Order forms are available in the office or from Mrs. Gonsoir. All orders must be prepaid. After filling out an order form, please complete a card putting who the flowers are for on the front of the card or envelope and what type of flower is ordered on the back of the card or envelope. Proceeds are used to support GHS debate.
