Student Bulletin

If you were interested in auditioning for this year’s musical, “Honk!” but were unable to attend yesterday’s auditions, please plan on meeting in the choir room after school today. Please have part of a song to sing.

MathCounts meets Tuesday morning, beginning at 7:45 a.m., in Mrs. Johnson's room #226.

There are yearbooks for sale in the business office for $50.

The school is looking for a part-time student custodian.  You must be 16 years old or older.  It may turn in to a full-time position in the summer.  If you are interested, stop in the office for an application.

The first round of the girls’ soccer playoffs is at 4pm on Tuesday.  We will be playing Vermillion at Groton.

Homecoming Week
-- If you are on the ICU list on Thursday you will be in Mrs. Sombke’s room during Thursday afternoon's activities.
-- If you are on the ICU list or have not paid your class dues by Friday you will be in the library during Friday float-building. 
-- No throwing candy from floats.  You may walk in the parade by your float and pass out candy.
-- Candy is not to be handed out or thrown at the park to the elementary students
-- No Homecoming dance.

Senior volleyball players, girls’ soccer players, golfers, and cross country runners will go to the elementary for lunch 11:15 – 12:30 p.m. today. 

All students who purchased their yearbook last year will be able to pick it up during advisory on Wednesday in the old gym.  We will hold a signing party at the same time.

Any other students who wish to purchase last years yearbook may purchase one for $50.00 from Mrs. Stauch after Wednesday.

The all school play this year is "Honk! The Musical." We need many people for this show! Auditions will be this Sunday, September 28th at 4:30 pm in the choir room. If you are unable to attend, please let Mrs. Honerman or Mr. Swanson know and we will set up an alternate audition time for you. Please prepare a song for auditions. It does not need to be from "Honk!" but can be a song from a Broadway musical. If you need help or assistance, please ask! If you are interested in any technical jobs (such as lightening, set design, etc.) please let Mrs. Honerman know. Interested but not sure about singing? Come audition anyway!

Lions are sponsoring Punt, Pass & Kick on Friday, September 26 at 3:00 p.m. on the football field.  Boys and girls ages 6-15 are welcome.  Pick up a form in the office.  They are due back to the office by Thursday.

Grade 12 2014 Critical needs workforce scholarship at SD technical schools:  http://www.lakeareatech.edu/future/criticalneedsscholarship/CriticalNeedsScholarshipApplication.pdf   This new program sounds amazing - a $5000 scholarship for 2 years for students interested in certain degree programs at the technical schools (see web site).  Apply early to be accepted as only a limited number of students are accepted into each program.

Groton United Methodist Youth Group (grades 9-12) will meet Wednesday, September 10 at 7:00 p.m.

All junior high and high school boys’ golfers should meet in Mr. Kjellsen's room at 3:20 today.

MathCounts meets Tuesday morning, beginning at 7:45 a.m., in Mrs. Johnson's room #226.

Reminder that there will be an FBLA meeting on Monday September 8th room 214 during advisory for all of those who are interested.  

On Monday, from 10:30 – 1:30 at the Golden Living Center there will be a Farmer’s Market and Bake Sale and an Alzheimer’s Support Picnic.  Free will donations accepted. 

Any 7th, 9th, 11th grade, or new students involved with fall sports who have not taken the Impact test for concussions should see Mrs. Dennert Monday to schedule a time

Sand Lake National Wildlife Refuge is presenting “Blue Goose Day” on Sunday, September 14 from 12:00 – 4:00pm.  For more information go to www.fws.gov/refuge/sand_lake.  There is also a poster on the bulletin outside of the office.

Order forms for “Volley for the Cure” t-shirts are on the counter in the office.  They are due Friday, September 19.

Grades 11-12:  Critical needs workforce scholarship at SD technical schools:  http://www.lakeareatech.edu/future/criticalneedsscholarship/CriticalNeedsScholarshipApplication.pdf   This was handed out and discussed during English on Friday  - a new program that offers a$5000 scholarship for 2 years for students interested in certain degree programs.   Check your email or click on the link to see which schools and programs qualify.  Register now.

Grades 7-12:  All boys and girls soccer players need to bring $5 to Mrs. Sternhagen for parents day gifts.  Parents Day is Saturday September 13.
