MS/HS Bulletin November 29

All band students your fall fundraising orders will be ready to pick up and deliver on Thursday December 1st. Please make arrangements to take home that day. Thanks!

Dual Credit Applications are due to the office by December 1. 

There will be no Table Talks on Wednesday, November 30 or December 7. 

FBLA meeting Tuesday, November 29th during lunch in Ms. Lingbeck's room.  Lunch will be served.

Grade 12:  Kiwanis Educational Foundation – 3 scholarship applications can be send in from GHS.  Info was emailed to you last Tuesday. If you want to apply turn in application by December 16 to Mrs. Sternhagen.

Grade 12:  Time to file your FAFSA! Use your 2015 tax information.
 
Grade 12:  NCRC Testing has been re-scheduled for December 2nd.  We will keep the same testing times and groups.   The NCRC is the National Career Readiness Certificate Test issued by ACT (nationalcareerreadiness.org).  The test is composed of three WorkKeys Assessments that measure skills that are critical to on-the-job success.  The areas are:  Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information.  Four certificate levels can be earned (Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze) depending on how testers do on all three WorkKeys Assessments.  This test is given by the SD Department of Labor and is used by employers to place and promote workers around SD and other states.  This is a great test to have on file as you graduate and enter the workforce.  The test will be given on November 2nd, 2016 with half the seniors testing in the morning and half in the afternoon.   Please bring a calculator, pencil, and your updated and charged computer.

Auditions for the high school one act, “Shakespeare for Kids!” are Monday, November 21 in Mrs. Honerman’s room at 5:00. If you are unable to attend, please let Mrs. Honerman know BEFORE so she can schedule another audition time for you. Please bring a list of all conflicts between November 28 - February 4, including Christmas break. Anyone interested in being a part of the one act – including working backstage – needs to attend auditions. Please let Mrs. Honerman know if you have any questions!

Groton Youth Rally will feature the Bruce Crevier family and their Spin-tacular Basketball program called Champions Forever, at the Groton Area High School Arena. The Rally will be on Wed., Nov. 16th at 7pm. Doors will open at 6:30pm.

Please reserve this night for a great time here in Groton and bring the whole family. Tickets will be sold for $5 in advance at the Groton Dairy Queen and Aberdeen Anchors of Faith, and $5 at the door, family rate- $20.  You may call for tickets or more information at 377-0709 or 397-8647. All ages are welcome!!

Grade 12:  Financial Aid Information Night (FAIN) will be held tonight, Monday, November 14 at 5:30 pm in the computer lab.  This is for you and your parents.  It is extremely important that you and your parents attend if you are interested in applying for loans, grants, or workstudy to help finance your college education.  Becky Pribyl, a financial aid officer, will be giving the presentation on financial aid programs and the FAFSA.  She is an excellent presenter and is planning to stay and help you and your parents get started with the FAFSA.  You may want to bring your 2015 tax information and your computer.   NEW- free t-shirts, pendants, cups from the colleges at FAIN.

The Annual School Wide Food Drive will be on Wednesday, November 9.  Meet in the arena lobby at 6:00.  Pizza and pop will be served after we're done collecting food to help those in need in our community.

Grade 12:  Financial Aid Information Night (FAIN) will be held on Monday, November 14 at 5:30 pm in the computer lab.  This is for you and your parents.  It is extremely important that you and your parents attend if you are interested in applying for loans, grants, or workstudy to help finance your college education.  Becky Pribyl, a financial aid officer, will be giving the presentation on financial aid programs and the FAFSA.  She is an excellent presenter and is planning to stay and help you and your parents get started with the FAFSA.  You may want to bring your 2015 tax information and your computer.   NEW- free t-shirts, pendants, cups from the colleges at FAIN.
 
Grade 12:  NCRC Testing has been re-scheduled for December 2nd.  We will keep the same testing times and groups.  Please let Mrs. Sternhagen know if you have questions.

Grades 11-12  ACT:  Registration for the December 10 test is due online by November 4, 2016 .  Register at www.actstudent.org   and pay with a credit card.  You will test in Aberdeen but be sure to list Groton as your home school.  Remember you must upload a photo to register and then print the admission ticket.  Fee waivers are available – stop by the GO.  Other test dates are: Feb., April, and June.   See Mrs. Sternhagen if you have questions.
