MS/HS Bulletin April 28

FCCLA Style Show tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the gym.

The color printer is out of order until further notice.

There will be a meeting for students that signed up for drivers ed at 3:15 today in the lunchroom.

The JH track meet has been cancelled today.  There will be JH track practice.

Yearbook group pictures will be taken Wednesday, May 4 at 2:45 in the arena/arena lobby.  Groups will be called down when it is their turn. 

The last day to check out books is this Friday.  Seniors need to have all library books turned in by May 5 to avoid fines. Grades 6-11 need to have all books turned in by May 16 to avoid fines.

MS/HS Bulletin April 27

If you are planning to go to the JH track meet tomorrow reminder of the School Board Policy – Students are not allowed to attend regular school activities which are held during the school day unless they are watching a sibling, they are accompanied by a parent, and are not on the ineligibility list.  All students meeting the aforementioned criteria and who are planning on attending must have their parents notify the office at least one day in advance.  Any violations will result in an unexcused absence.  This includes any K-12 classroom or co-curricular activity, unless it is approved by the principal.  All work must be completed prior to being excused.

The office has Elementary PAC “Bean Bag Toss” raffle tickets.  Mr. Guthmiller (SWEETG’s) made and donated the bean bag toss game for the drawing.  1 ticket for $1 or 3 tickets for $2.  Tickets can be purchased at the high school office this week or at the Elementary PAC Carnival on Saturday.

Grand March practice will be during ADVISORY on Friday.  Seniors who are involved in Grand March must remain in school during advisory on Friday; your attendance is mandatory.

Students attending Prom, please remember that if you are bringing an out-of-town date he/she must have a signed reference form back to the office before admittance to the Prom. All forms and money need to be turned in to the office by Monday, April 11th. If you have any questions please see Dr. Schwan.

Robotics will present to grades 6-12 in the arena during advisory on Monday, April 11th.  Report to your advisories for attendance and advisory teachers accompany your students to the arena.

There will be no tutoring until April 6.  At that time, you will meet in Mrs. Honerman’s classroom.

Starting April 6, ICU will again meet in the library conference room.

Students planning to attend prom and post-prom will sign up in the library.  When the students sign up, they will also need to bring a $20 prom fee or $40 per couple fee.  This fee will be returned to all students who stay through the entire prom and post-prom party.  If there is a valid reason that a student is not able to stay for the post-prom, a parent must notify the school by Monday, April 11th.  If this prior notice is given, the fee will be reimbursed.

Grades 11-12:   Reminder of things to do for the ACT Test on Saturday, April 9, 2016 in Groton or Aberdeen.   Bring your admission ticket and a driver’s license (photo ID), 2 calculators, pencils with erasers, a watch, and possibly a water bottle.  Be sure and show up at the testing location at least 15 minutes early (7:45).  It might be a good idea to review last minute formulas and rules.  No caps are to be worn during testing.  No beverage will be allowed in the testing area.  No cell phones are to be used at any time during test (including the break). Testing should conclude around noon.  Those who are taking the writing assessment should be done by 12:45 p.m.  Be sure and do the practice test prior to the test.  Stop by the School Counseling Office if you need an extra copy.

Congratulations to the DI teams that competed at State Competition in Mitchell over the weekend.  All of our teams did an excellent job representing our school.  The following teams placed second in their challenges:  Out of the Boxers (HS), DIsfunctional Broad Squad (ML) and Pheasant Dumpling Pizza Guys (EL).  The Wonderful Nonsense (ML) placed third and 6Lets (EL) placed fourth.

DSTEP science testing grades 8 and 11 will take place during science class. 
Grades 11-12:  The following college representatives will be in the School Counseling Office to visit with students.  Please make arrangements with your teachers.

Grades 11-12:   Reminder of things to do for the ACT Test on Saturday, April 9, 2016 in Groton or Aberdeen.   Bring your admission ticket and a driver’s license (photo ID), 2 calculators, pencils with erasers, a watch, and possibly a water bottle.  Be sure and show up at the testing location at least 15 minutes early (7:45).  It might be a good idea to review last minute formulas and rules.  No caps are to be worn during testing.  No beverage will be allowed in the testing area.  No cell phones are to be used at any time during test (including the break). Testing should conclude around noon.  Those who are taking the writing assessment should be done by 12:45 p.m.  Be sure and do the practice test prior to the test.  Stop by the School Counseling Office if you need an extra copy.

Camp topics include: Wild Weather, Entrepreneurship Boot Camp, Build the Future, Mining and Explosives, Chemical and Biological Engineering Summer Institute, and Green Chemistry. 6-8 Graders AND Teachers!: NASA, LATI, and SDSU are sponsoring a two Summer Bridge program August 1-5, on the campus of SDSU. One program is Gallery of Echoes (Where art meets science) and the second program is Minecraft Camp (Serious gaming meets flight). Scholarships for students and teachers are available. See Ms. Seeklander for more information.

The Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering is once again host the Girls, Engineering, Math, & Science (GEMS) workshop for 8th grade girls on Saturday, April 2nd.
