Drivers Ed is tomorrow from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The football team needs your help!  They are raising funds to purchase sideline capes for the football team to wear during games so they are better protected from the cold temps, wind and rain.  They need to raise $5,500.  The capes will stay with the school and be used for many years to come.  Checks can be made out to Groton Area HS.  In the memo line please include football capes.  Checks can be given to Stacey Oliver.  If you have questions you can contact Stacy Oliver at soliver@nvc.net.

Physical forms will be handed out in English class today (Monday).  The gold forms are for grade 7 and 10 that need to go to the doctor for a full physical.  The blue forms are for students in grades 8, 9, 11, and 12.  Be sure to double check that all forms are completely filled out and signed before you turn it in. 

Acceleration forms need to be turned in to Mr. Thorson today.  

 “GT Robotics will be meeting today from 6:00 to 9:00 in the robotics room.  Students interested in being part of the robotics program next year are welcome to attend.”

Dynamics Dance Team Tryouts will be held on Sunday, June 7 at the GHS Gym.  Tryout practice will be from 2:00 – 3:00 with the audition portion at 3:00 p.m.  Those entering grades 9-12 in the fall of 2015 are eligible to audition.  More information and a sign-up sheet are available at the office. 

All girls’ basketball players playing in Summer League and team camp turn in your forms to Mr. Wanner. 

"Toms Shoe Company is donating a pair of shoes to a child in need for anyone who takes a picture of their bare feet and posting it on Instagram with the hashtag "without shoes". This generous give away will be going from May 5th- May 21st. Please help those who are less fortunate than us.  Remember no pictures during the school day.

Grade 11:  If you are interested in retaking or taking the ASVAB for the first time please see Mrs. Sternhagen to sign up for testing in October.

Grades 9-10:  If you are interested in taking the ASVAB or PSAT tests next year, please see Mrs. Sternhagen.   Students will register during English class on Wednesday, May 13. 

Congratulations to the 2 year Principal’s Honor Roll Recipients  These students have been on the honor roll every quarter for grades 7 and 8:  Kaitlyn A, Jennie D, Tylan G, Taylor H, Shyla L, Samantha M, Alexis S, AnneMarie S, Emily T, Cassandra T.  These students will have Jungle pizza for lunch on Monday, May 18 in the arena lobby.

Grades 11 ACT:  Registration for the Sept. 12 test is due online by August 7.   Register at www.actstudent.org   and pay with a credit card.  You will test in Aberdeen but be sure to list Groton as your home school.  Remember you must upload a photo to register and then print the admission ticket.  Fee waivers are available – stop by the GO.  The next test dates are:  June 13, Sept. 12, October 24 and December 12, 2015.    ACT sign up help is available from Mrs. Sternhagen.

Junior class meeting in the music room on Monday, May 18th during advisory.

Students who are enrolled in either dual-credit and/or online learning classes next fall meet in the Physics Room on Thursday, May 14th during advisory to receive your computer paperwork for next fall.  Most online classes begin before our first day so it's important you receive this paperwork and return it signed before the last day of school so that you can get your computer in August before your classes begin.  Any questions please see Mrs. Schwan

ICU will meet in Mrs. Honerman’s classroom on Wednesday. 

On Monday evening 6:00 to 9:00 GT Robotics will have their last work session of the 2014-2015 season.  If you are interested in being a part of robotics teams in 2015-2016 please attend.   

There will be an FBLA meeting today (Wed.) during advisory in my room. 

Drivers Ed registration is due on Thursday, May 7. 

Seniors will turn in computers on Friday, May 8.  Make sure you bring all the parts when you are called down to turn it in. 

Pictures will be taken of the following groups on Wednesday at 3:00 in the library:  Student Council, Peer Tutors, Yearbook, and Robotics (retake).  Please check in with your advisory teacher prior to going to the library.

Grades 8-12 girls there will be a basketball meeting on Wednesday in Mr. Wanner’s room at 3:15 p.m. 

Groton FFA Fun Night is Friday, May, 8 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Achen house.  (Address is on flyers posed in the halls.)  Five dollars at the door or $3 with a nonperishable food item.   Pulled pork sandwiches, chips, bar and a drink for $5 from 6:00 – 7:00.  If dancing is not your thing, you could still come out and enjoy some volleyball and kickball.  Proceeds will go the Mr. Hoffman, the Mitchell FFA Advisor.   

Students planning to attend the Elementary Track and Field Day on Friday, May 8 are reminded of School Board Policy:  Students are not allowed to attend regular elementary school activities which are held during the school day unless they are watching a sibling, they are accompanied by a parent, and are not on the ineligibility list. All students meeting the aforementioned criteria and who are planning on attending must have their parents notify the office at least one day in advance. Any violations will result in an unexcused absence. This includes any K-12 classroom or co-curricular activity, unless it is approved by the principal

The library will be closing on May 11.  All books need to be turned in on or before May 11.

Happy May Day!!!!

Congratulations to Mrs. Tietz and the FACS for a great program last night.  Your projects are outstanding, and we appreciate that you will share them with us.  Thank you to those of you who provided the entertainment as well!  Mrs. Schwan

Thank you to all FACS students and talent performers for all you did to make last night's style show a success!  You all did a wonderful job!  Thanks also to all that helped behind the scenes: Chuck Padfield, Lucas S, Landon M, Chance S, Hunter L, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Swanson, and Mr. Franken, we appreciate all of your help.  A special thanks to the FCCLAers for all you've done to make this year a success!

Students planning to attend the Elementary Track and Field Day on Friday, May 8 are reminded of School Board Policy:  Students are not allowed to attend regular elementary school activities which are held during the school day unless they are watching a sibling, they are accompanied by a parent, and are not on the ineligibility list. All students meeting the aforementioned criteria and who are planning on attending must have their parents notify the office at least one day in advance. Any violations will result in an unexcused absence. This includes any K-12 classroom or co-curricular activity, unless it is approved by the principal

Groton Area DI will be serving pork loin sandwiches and hotdogs prior to the Elementary Concert on May 5.  Serving will be from 5-7 pm in the HS gym.

Grades 10-11:  Free Summer Health Academy at Avera St. Lukes and Presentation.  Learn about athletic training, cardiopulmonary, laboratory, nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory therapy, social work, speech therapy and surgery.  June 9-11.   Fill out form, essay, recommendation from a teacher/counselor who knows you well, and transcript (request from office).  Deadline is May 2 (must be to Avera St. Luke’s by May 4).  Forms are available from Mrs. Sternhagen.
