MS/HS Bulletin March 31

There will be no tutoring until April 6.  At that time, you will meet in Mrs. Honerman’s classroom.

Students planning to attend prom and post-prom will sign up in the library.  When the students sign up, they will also need to bring a $20 prom fee or $40 per couple fee.  This fee will be returned to all students who stay through the entire prom and post-prom party.  If there is a valid reason that a student is not able to stay for the post-prom, a parent must notify the school by Monday, April 11th.  If this prior notice is given, the fee will be reimbursed.

If you have a prom date from out of town, please stop by the library and pick up a form that will need to be filled out by your date and your dates principal.  Forms are due by April 11.

8th graders (who will be 9th graders next year): SD School of Mines and Technology will be hosting camps throughout the summer. Camp topics include: Wild Weather, Entrepreneurship Boot Camp, Build the Future, Mining and Explosives, Chemical and Biological Engineering Summer Institute, and Green Chemistry. Scholarships are available. For more information see Ms. Seeklander.

6-8 Graders AND Teachers!: NASA, LATI, and SDSU are sponsoring a two Summer Bridge program August 1-5, on the campus of SDSU. One program is Gallery of Echoes (Where art meets science) and the second program is Minecraft Camp (Serious gaming meets flight). Scholarships for students and teachers are available. See Ms. Seeklander for more information.

The Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering is once again host the Girls, Engineering, Math, & Science (GEMS) workshop for 8th grade girls on Saturday, April 2nd. Prom Decorating Meeting Wednesday during advisory.

The Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering is once again host the Girls, Engineering, Math, & Science (GEMS) workshop for 8th grade girls on Saturday, April 2nd. This workshop will be held in Brookings, on the SDSU campus, and costs $25 if registered by March 25. After March 25 the cost goes to $35. Students Grades 6-7-8- 11 will be taking the Smarter Balanced and DSTEP science test in the next few weeks.  Please make plans to be here during testing as it must be made up.   All students will need headsets – please bring these to school. 
All backpacks and cell phones must be put away during testing.  Cell phones can not be accessed during testing. 
 
Bring other work to do after you are finished testing.

Junior and seniors--there has been a change with the after-prom plans.  The National Guard cancelled their TAC Ball activity they were going to bring, so instead after-prom will be held at the YMCA.

Girls’ basketball meeting in Mr. Wanner’s classroom today at 3:15 p.m.   Bring your uniform, warmups, and practice jerseys on a hanger.  If you want to turn your uniform in earlier take them to Mr. Wanner’s room. 

At the Boys’ Regions Basketball Tournament today no passes or activity tickets will we accepted.  Adults are $6 and students are $4.  Groton will play Roncalli in the second game, 20 minutes after the first game ends.  Sisseton vs Britton/Hecla play in the first game starting at 6:00 p.m. 

Theme for tonight’s game is Extreme Jungle.

Be sure to have all your belongings out of the JH boy’s locker room and the varsity girl’s locker room.  Other schools will be using those locker rooms for the Regions Boys’ Basketball Tournament.

Grades 11-12  ACT:  Registration for the April 9, 2016 test is due online by March 4, 2016 .  Register at www.actstudent.org   and pay with a credit card.  You will test in Groton or Aberdeen but be sure to list Groton as your home school.  Remember you must upload a photo to register and then print the admission ticket.  Fee waivers are available – stop by the GO.  Other test dates are: June 11, Sept. and Oct.   ACT sign up help is available from Mrs. Sternhagen.
