MS/HS Bulletin April 30

Student Council picture today, in the library, during advisory.  Please check in with your advisory teacher before going to the library. 

 

Varsity track pictures will be taken today after school.  Please bring your entire uniform.  Extra picture forms are in the office. 

 

Cheer tryouts will be Friday, May 9th after school around 3:45.

 

Groton JH Track Meet will be Friday May 2nd.   

 

Concession stand workers needed for the JO volleyball tournament on May 10th from 8:00-3:00.  Remember, this is a great way to accumulate community service hours which look great on scholarship applications!  If interested sign up in the office.  Thanks!

2nd Annual 5K Walk/Run or Bike is Saturday, May 17.  There are registration forms in the office.  This is a fundraising event for the Groton Destination Imagination teams traveling to Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee, May 21 – 24.  To be guaranteed a t-shirt you must register by May 1st otherwise you can register the day of the event.

 

Jr. High students that are on the ineligibility list must check in with Mrs. Seibel everyday this week. 

 

Congratulations to Joellen G and Wyatt S for being selected as the American Legion Citizenship award recipients.  One high school senior boy and girl are selected yearly based on honor, courage, scholarship, leadership and service.

MS/HS Bulletin April 29

No Soccer in Aberdeen today (Tuesday).

 

Juniors – Rose Waage wanted to thank you for the TV that she won at the 80’s fund raiser drawing. 

 

Football meeting for grades 8-11 on Wednesday, right after school in Mr. Wanner’s classroom.   Bring your Football Camp Registration to the meeting. 

 

The Parker  high school art department has been selected as a semi-finalist in the VANS Custom Culture shoe contest.  We need as many votes as possible to make it to the next level for a chance to win $50,000 and a trip to New York!   Please visit our website at http://parker.k12.sd.us and click the big red "Vote Now" button.  We are in the Northwest region.   Only 1 vote from each IP address so people will have to vote outside the school and on their smartphones.

MS/HS Bulletin April 23



Congratulations to the Groton math students who participated in last week's NSU Mathematics Contest for earning second place as a school in the AA/A division!  530 students from 31 schools in three states (North and South Dakota and Minnesota) participated in the event.  To determine school rank, the highest score on each of the four tests was taken to compute each school's result. 

 

Reminder of the T-Dap Clinic on Friday from 1:00 – 3:00 in the office for students ages 11-14.  If you plan to get the vaccine you must turn in your permission form.

Grades 10-11:  Free Summer Health Academy at Avera St. Lukes and Presentation.  Learn about athletic training, cardiopulmonary, laboratory, nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory therapy, social work, speech therapy and surgery.  June 2—4 or June 4-6.  Fill out form, essay, recommendation from a teacher/counselor who knows you well, and transcript (request from office).  Deadline is April 25.  Forms will be available in English or from Mrs. Sternhagen.

Congratulations to the following students for earning honorable mention status at the 61st Annual Northern State University Mathematics Contest on Wednesday:

DI will be doing a fundraiser at the Dairy Queen on Thursday, April 24 from 5-8 pm.    Proceeds from this event will go to help fund the DI teams traveling to Global Finals in Knoxville, TN at the end of May

 

In a good-will effort to help out Mr. Podoll (Mr. Franken's student teacher), wear a hat on Wednesday, April 23  in support!  A minimum of one dollar donation can be dropped off at the office.   Several weeks ago a man driving under the influence drove a vehicle directly through Mr. Podoll's dining room moments before he and his family were to sit down for dinner.  Mr. Podoll's family was not seriously injured, but he could use our help.  Thank you!

 There are a few circus tickets available to any 7th or 8th graders that will use them.  First come, first serve.

MS/HS Bulletin April 14

Tomorrow is the Rob Luecke Invitational, if you are planning to attend, please plan ahead and get parent permission, a make-up slip and your homework assignments today. 

 

We are looking for a black bag with pink handles full of track clothes and track shoes.  If you know where it is, please let the office know.   

 

No JH track meet today at Milbank.  It has been cancelled.

 

Jr. High students that are on the ineligibility list must check in with Mrs. Kippley everyday this week. 

 

Dress Code
Clothing that is too revealing or distracting is not appropriate and should not be worn during school or at school functions.  This includes but is not limited to tank tops, shirts, jeans, shorts, and dresses.  Shirts/dresses with spaghetti straps or only one strap are not allowed.  Bare skin should not be visible between the bottom of the shirt and the top of the pant/shorts.  As a general rule, if in doubt, it's probably not appropriate.  Shorts are permitted.  Please use good judgment.
You will be sent to the office and sent home to change if your clothing is not appropriate. 

 

Lunch line order will change today:  1st Lunch – 6, 8, 7     2nd Lunch – 12, 11, 10, 9

Emmanuel Lutheran Church confirmation students heading to the movie in Aberdeen right after school today meet in the northwest corner of the school parking lot closest to the football field.
