FCCLA will be selling pink eye blacks at lunch today and tomorrow for the "Pink Night" at the volleyball game on Tuesday.

Family Night is tonight from 4:00 – 7:00p.m.
Students who attend Family Night with their parents will get bonus
points. Pick up a sign-in sheet when you get there, and visit booths. A
completed sheet will earn the bonus points.
MathCounts meets Tuesday morning, beginning at 7:45 a.m., in Mrs. Johnson's room #226.
Students, you are not allowed to drive or ride with anyone other than
YOUR parent, not your sibling, not your friend's mom, and not your
significant other's mom. You will lose open campus privileges for a
month.
Tuesday is Pink Day – Remember to wear your breast cancer shirts –
old ones or new ones – for all those fighting the battle against
cancer.
The Golden Living Center and Lions Club will be sponsoring a Trick or
Treat party at the Golden Living Center on October 31 from 6:00 – 7:30
p.m. All are welcome!
Parent’s night for volleyball is on Friday, October 23. Game with
Britton/Hecla. You will need to give $3.00 to Jan Hoffman by next
Thursday, October 22.
Students--you must enter the school building through the
office entrance. Under no circumstances should you be banging on the
doors waiting for another student to open the door for you. In
addition, you should not be opening the door for non-staff
adults. Even if you leave campus for lunch you do not have permission
to enter through any door other than the main office entrance. If you
choose not to follow this policy you will lose open lunch privileges.
Cheerleading practice on Monday, October 19 from 5:00 – 6:00 in the
arena lobby for Mikaela B, Caroline G, Brenna J,
Madison S.
Parkston is having its annual chili cook-off at the October 22,
Parkston vs. Groton football game. $5 a cup, try as many different
chilies as you want and eat as much as you want. Cinnamon rolls will be
sold for $1.
Dual credit registration for Spring opens November 16th. Please see
Mrs. Sternhagen or Dr. Schwan with questions. Dual credit registrations
must be submitted to Dr. Schwan by December 18.
Grades 10-12: Camille Sippel, GHS Class of 2014,
will be here on Tuesday, October 20 at 8:45 a.m. to talk to GHS students
about the Honors Business program at the University of Nebraska
Lincoln. Please stop down and talk with her if
you are interested in learning about the University of Nebraska Lincoln
or about their highly ranked business program.
Grades 6-9 and 12: Smarter
Balanced bonus points will be passed out during your English course and
are to be used in quarter 1. Many students earned levels 3 and 4 for
bonus points – congratulations!
Grades 6-12: Monday, October 19th is Family Night
– this is a great chance for you and your parents to talk to college
reps, ask questions and even apply. From 4-7 pm many area colleges will
be
in the GHS gym for you to talk to. Please come and talk to the
representatives! SDSU, NSU, USD, LATI, MTI, NDSCS, Presentation, Great
Lakes, JumpStart, and the National Guard are confirmed. Jump Start, a
program at the 4-year schools for students who qualify
financially or who are minorities, provides funding, resources, and
advisors free of charge. Great Lakes is an agency which provides
financial information for students.
Grade 9: Pathways forms were sent to your parents on Friday. Please return your sheet to Mrs. Sternhagen.
Grades 11-12: The following college representatives
will be in the School Counseling Office to visit with students. Please
make arrangements with your teachers.
