MS/HS Bulletin October 2

Congratulations to the following students for earning awards at Wednesday's Groton Invitational MathCounts Competition:
Kaitlyn A, Micah P, AnneMarie S, and Cassandra T for placing first in the eighth grade team division;
AnneMarie S for placing first and Micah P for placing second in the individual eighth grade portion of the competition; and
Kaycie H for earning fourth place in the individual seventh grade competition!  Well done, mathletes!

Any Junior and Senior girl that participate in Carnival of Silver Skates needs to pick up a queen form, in the office, if you didn’t already receive one.  They must be returned to the office ASAP.

All-State practice tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.

Tuesday, October 7 is Breast Cancer Awareness Night at the Leola/Frederick volleyball match at Frederick.  Show your support to take down breast cancer.  7th grade plays at 4:00, 8th grade at 5:00 p.m., JV at 6:30 with varsity to follow.

Snow Queen Talent Contest entry forms may be picked up from Mr. Johnson.  Aspiring vocalists, instrumentalists, dancers, actors, magicians, and comedians are encouraged to sign up.  Applications must be turned in by Friday, October 17th.  The contest will be held on the evening of Sunday, November 2nd in the high school gym.

The cast list for Honk! is posted outside of Mrs. Honerman’s classroom (room 216). If you plan to accept your role, please sign your name next to your typed name on the sheet. If you’re interested in joining the crew for the play, please let Mrs. Honerman know as well. There is a list of crew so far – please sign your name on the list as well so that we know you’re still interested. A rough rehearsal schedule will be available from Mrs. Honerman on Friday with the first rehearsal being next Monday. Scripts and music will be available at that time.

The October FCCLA meeting is today during advisory in the FACS room.

The school is looking for a part-time student custodian.  You must be 16 years old or older.  It may turn in to a full-time position in the summer.  If you are interested, stop in the office for an application.

Good luck to the JH football teams today at Aberdeen Roncalli.  7th grade plays at 4:00 p.m.  8th grade plays at 5:00 p.m.
Good luck to the Cross Country team at Sisseton today.  Meet starts at 4:30.  Dismissal at 1:30 p.m.
Good luck to the volleyball teams today at Webster.  JH play at 5:00 p.m.  C/JV play at 6:30 with varsity to follow.

The Boys Soccer game vs JVC at Groton on Saturday (10/4) will be at 5pm!

Grade 12:  Transcripts and ACT’s will be mailed to schools today - check your email for more info.  Let Mrs. Sternhagen know if you need any more schools added.   

Grade 11 - All juniors will be attending Post High Planning Days today (leave around 9:15 and return around 11:45)

10th Grade – HOBY essays due Oct. 17 to Mrs. Sternhagen.   Write about your leadership skills – what is the most rewarding and challenging aspect of being a leader in our school.  Tell about your leadership experiences.  Tell about yourself.  Why would you be a good candidate for HOBY?

The following must pay $14 for the PSAT test on October 15.
