MS/HS Bulletin February 4, 2014



Congratulations to Joellen Gonsoir for being named a National GE-Ronald Regan Scholar Semi-Finalist.

 

Yummy bars for sale in the office for 50 cents each. 

 

If you are interested in a career in law enforcement, you should plan to attend the Youth Trooper Academy from June 23rd -June 27th in Pierre.  If accepted, all expenses will be paid.  See Mrs. Sternhagen if interested in applying.  The deadline is March 24th.

 

JO Volleyball players - Your signed forms (including the folder) need to be turned into Mr. Helvig as soon as possible.  See Coach Helvig if you need forms to fill out.

 

The February FCCLA meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 4 during advisory in the FACS room.

 

February 10-14 is National FCCLA week, our chapter has several events and fundraisers planned to celebrate the week including:

*Crush cans that will be sold during lunch Feb 10, 11, and 12 and will delivered on Feb. 13.

 

*Pregnancy Belly Fundraiser - Put your extra change in the jar of your favorite male teacher who you would like to see wear the pregnancy simulation belly for one day!  The top two teachers with the most money will wear the belly for a whole day!  You can begin filling the jars on Feb. 5-11, they will be in office!

 

All proceeds will go towards Groton Community Improvement Projects.

 

On Saturday there is a double header at Warner.  Warner will be serving a pork loin meal that includes a   sandwich, chips and a bar for $5.

 

Good luck to the 7th grade boys’ basketball players against Redfield/Doland today.  Players will be dismissed at 2:15 p.m

 

Grade 12:  Any seniors who still need to turn in Community Service Scholarships see Mrs. Sternhagen right away. 

 

Grade 12:  SDSU will be at Max and Erma’s on Wednesday, Feb. 5 from 5-7 pm.  www.sdstate.edu   (keyword:  Takeout)

 

Grade 12:  In order to be eligible for the best financial aid package you must meet your school’s financial aid priority filing dates.   Most SD schools have a priority date of March 1 but some schools (U of  M for example) may have earlier deadlines.   Be sure and go to www.fafsa.gov  NOT fafsa.com

 

Grades 11 and 12:   ACT registration for the April 12th  test is due online by March 7  Register at www.actstudent.org   and pay with a credit card.  You can test in Groton or in Aberdeen.  Be sure to list Groton as your home school.  Remember you must upload a photo to register and then print the admission ticket.  Fee waivers are available – stop by
