MS/HS Bulletin November 5th, 2013

Good luck to the volleyball team tonight against Webster at the Region Tournament at Britton/Hecla.  Our match will start around 7:00-7:30 depending on length of the first match being played. 

 

Robotics will meet Wednesday night at 7:00 in Mr. Donley’s room.

 

Starting today the bulletin will be posted on the bulletin board right outside the office. 

 

"I Hate Shakespeare!" Cast: those in Act I will rehearse Tuesday at 7pm and Wednesday at 7am. (Wednesday will be in Mrs. Honerman's classroom.) Those in Act II will rehearse Thursday at 7pm and Friday at 7am. Please let Mrs. Honerman know if you are unable to attend as soon as humanly possible!

 

Parent-Teacher Conferences are on November 14th from 1:30-8:30.  You will receive 10 bonus points for quarter 2 if your parents speak with each of your teachers.  If you have an "A" in a class your parent would not need to speak with that teacher, but is more than welcome!  If your parents are unable to attend, they should contact the teacher for discussion. All high school boys intending on playing basketball this season should meet in Mr. Kjellsen's room right after school on Tuesday.

 

All overdue library books need to be returned to the library.

 

7th and 8th grade volleyball players turn in your jersey and pink t-shirts to Ms. Erickson as soon as possible. 

 

Snow Queen Talent Competition entry forms can be picked up from Mr. Johnson.  Forms are due Friday, November 8th.  Auditions will be Tuesday, November 12th immediately after school.  The Snow Queen contest is on Sunday, November 17th. 

 

Football players can turn in equipment.

 

There will be a Free Flu Shot Clinic on November 14, Parent/Teacher Conference night, at the elementary starting at 1:30 p.m.   Forms were handed out  to grades 6 – 8.  Grades 9-12 can stop in the office to pick up a form.   Please return the consent form to the High School office by Friday, November 8. 

 

FCCLA meeting today during advisory.

 

There will be an all church activity on Wednesday, November 6 from 6-8 pm at the High School Gym.  There will be dodge ball and other activities.  The cost is 5.00 with the proceeds going to the BAGS program.  This activity is for grades 7-12.

 

There is extra frozen Peanut Butter Cup and Oatmeal cookie dough from the show choir fundraiser. It is $16 per box. See Mrs. Yeaton soon if you are interested.

 

Grades 11-12:  Students interested in registering for Presentation College courses for 2nd semester should register now.  Those who register first will get to take the course.   The email was sent to you on Friday with the links.    See Mrs. Sternhagen.

Congratulations to Joellen G for being chosen as Groton’s 2013-2014 Prudential Spirit of Community Award recipient based on outstanding community service. 

 

Teachers – Please return student of the month sheets to Mrs. Sternhagen’s box by Tuesday.

 

Congratulations to Reilly E and Cheyenne S for being selected as the school winners in the 2013 Wendys High School Heisman Competition.   Both advanced to the next level of competition and both were selected as State Finalists.  State winners will be selected on November 4th – good luck to both of them as they advance in the competition.

 

Grade 10:  Check your email for testing locations for the PLAN test on Wednesday, November 6th.    Mrs. Sternhagen brought practice tests to your English class yesterday.  Stop by if you still need one.    

 

Grades 7-12:  Boys soccer players please return uniforms (2 jerseys, 2 shorts, 1 jacket) to Mrs. Sternhagen.

 

Grade 9:  Reminder to bring your pathways sheets to Mrs. Sternhagen

 

Grade 10:  Hoby 2014 – See Mrs. Sternhagen today if you were absent on Friday and still want to apply.

 

Grade 12:  NSU – free application month.  November is free app month at NSU.   You must submit a paper  application, transcript, and ACT and be accepted by the end of the month.   The application materials must be sent straight to NSU.  Stop by the GO to get the application and get it filled out to give to the NSU rep when she visits Groton on November 7. 

 

Grade 12: Testing – ACT:  ACT registration for the December 14 test is due online by November 8.  Register at www.actstudent.org   and pay with a credit card.
