MS/HS Bulletin November 13, 2013

Some money was found in the hallway.  Stop in the office if it could be yours.

The community food drive will be on Tuesday, Nov. 19.  Everyone is welcome grades 9-12.  Meet in the old gym at 6:30.  There will be pizza and pop for everyone after!

The Groton Youth Rally is today at 7pm at the Groton Area High School Arena with Keeley Kaukimoce who is a professional Christian hip hop dancer. Keeley has worked in countless videos and live performances with such artists as Justin Beiber, Janet Jackson, and Christina Aguilera. She speaks about how to confront fear and how to gain self confidence when you feel you "don't belong." Tickets are $5 in advance at the Groton Dairy Queen or $5 at the door. When you make the announcement about the youth rally this week, would you please add that Connie Stauch will have tickets for sale for $5 at the school?

School will dismiss at 1:15 tomorrow for conferences.  Friday there is no school for Teacher In-service.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are on November 14th from 1:30-8:30.  You will receive 10 bonus points for quarter 2 if your parents speak with each of your teachers.  If you have an "A", from first quarter, in a class your parent would not need to speak with that teacher, but is more than welcome!  If your parents are unable to attend, they should contact the teacher for discussion. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Sternhagen

There will be a Free Flu Shot Clinic on November 14, Parent/Teacher Conference night, at the elementary starting at 1:30 p.m.   Please return the consent form to the High School office.

There is only Oatmeal cookie dough left. It is $16 per box. See Mrs. Yeaton soon if you are interested.

Attention parents:  There will be an informational presentation and Q and A on the Common Core State Standards on Thursday, November 14 at 6:00 PM in the HS Library Conference Room for anyone interested in hearing about the standards, their origin, and how they impact our schools.

Grade 12:  Reminder of the Scholarship meeting for you and your parents on Thursday during conferences in the computer lab from 6:45 – 7:30.   The presentation will cover hints on how to fill out scholarships, and local scholarships will be explained and handed out.   If you or your parent cannot attend, I will bring a folder for you to English class.  Invitation letters were sent to the parents of all seniors last week.

Emily R, Brady G, and Jasmine S will take the PLAN test today in Mrs. Sternhagen’s room periods 5-7.

Grades 11-12:  Students interested in registering for Presentation College courses for 2nd semester should register now.  Those who register first will get to take the course.   The email was sent to you on Friday with the links.    See Mrs. Sternhagen if you have questions.
