MS/HS Bulletin March7

Congratulations to the 6th grade class for winning the Penny War!  The FCCLA and the Society of Lymphoma and Leukemia sends a huge thank you to all who participated!  The 6th grade class will receive ice cream treats on Friday, March 10 during lunch.  After you are finished eating, go to the arena lobby to get your treat!

*There will be a Track & Field Meeting for all 9-12 graders in Room #304 on Tuesday, March 14th at 3:35pm.  If you are interested in participating in Track and Field this spring please plan on attending.  Coach Schuring  

Bonus Points for parent/teacher conferences will be handed out in English class on Wednesday.  They must be used by Friday.

Living Stations Practice for all Catholic High School students will be held Wed. 8th @ 6:30.  Please come and participate.

The sign-up for the prom grand march will be this Wed. at 8:00 a.m. in the library.  There is a $20 prom fee or $40 per couple, which is due when you sign up on Wed.  This fee will be returned to all students who stay through the entire prom and post-prom party.

Congratulations to Keri Pappas for being named the runner up state champion original orator. Keri also placed 5th in domestic extemp. The team of Keri Pappas and KaSandra Pappas placed 5th in the state Public forum debate.

The March FCCLA Meeting will be on Thursday, March 9 in the FACS room.  Lunch will be served!

FBLA meeting Tuesday, March 7th during lunch in Ms. Lingbeck's room.  Bring your own lunch!

Girls’ basketball players turn in your uniforms to Mr. Wanner this week.  Make sure they are washed!

The dates and locations for the public meetings concerning the proposed building project at Groton Area MS/HS have been finalized.  Encourage your parents to attend the meetings.

Summer registration for dual credit is now open.  Applications are on the counter in the office.  Please see Dr. Schwan for questions.

Grade 12:  If you are planning to do the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation Scholarships (final deadline March 15) and you want Mrs. Sternhagen to complete the ACT/grade information or to write a recommendation, you must have the information sent to her within the next few days so the forms can be submitted by March 9.   Create your scholarship account now and send out the online notifications to your recommenders now.  http://www.sfacf.org

Students Grades 6-7-8- 11 will be taking the Smarter Balanced and SD Science test in the next few weeks.  Please make plans to be here during testing as it must be made up.   All students will need headsets – please bring these to school. 
All backpacks and cell phones must be put away during testing.  Cell phones can not be accessed during testing.   All computers must be charged – you will test on your computer! 
 
Bring other work to do after you are finished testing.

There will be two groups of students for ELA and Math – one will test in the morning and one in the afternoon.  Testing groups will be read to you during English classes and will be posted outside the conference room/computer lab and Mrs. Sternhagen’s room.    

Grades 6, 8, and 11 will test periods 1-3 and periods 5-7.  Grade 7 will test periods 1-2 and 5-6 on Day 1 and periods 1-3 and 5-7 on Day 2
