MS/HS Bulletin December 11

Students--Taking pictures in school is strictly prohibited and pictures taken in the bathroom and/or locker rooms will be considered a police matter.  Again, if you cannot manage your cell phones appropriately during the day, privileges will be suspended.

Congratulations to the MathCounts students for earning awards at Wednesday's Roncalli Invitational MathCounts Countdown Competition!  The eighth grade team placed first, and the seventh grade team placed second in their respective divisions. 

All eight individuals received certificates in their individual competitions: 
First places: AnneMarie S, Micah P, Jennie D, Isaac S, and Hunter S
Third place: Kaycie H
Fourth places: Cassandra T and Kayla J 

Well done, mathletes!

Student of the Month picture will be taken today (Thursday) in the Library during advisory.  Check in with your advisory teacher before you go to the library. 

Anyone interested in being a student manager for the boys basketball team, contact Mr. Kjellsen.

Reminder all students must park in the east parking lots.  Do not park on the west side of the school in the staff parking.   

Tickets for “Honk!” are available in advance from Mrs. Stauch, Lori’s Pharmacy, or Olde Bank. Student tickets are $4 and adult tickets are $7. Tickets will also be available at the door. Performance is Sunday, December 14 at 3:30 pm. Come support your friends and their talents in a musical all about the ugly duckling and his search for happiness!

Jostens will be here on Friday, Dec. 12 from 8:00 - 9:30 to take orders from Juniors and Seniors

Year books for 2015 can be pre-purchased at the cost of $50.00 up until December 19th.
After December 19th they will go up to $55.00
If you want your book personalized it is an extra $3.00

Grade 11:  ACT Sign up Seminar in Mrs. Sternhagen’s office during Advisory on Thursday, Dec. 11th and Wednesday, Dec. 17th  for anyone wanting to test in February (February 7th).   Bring your computers.

Grades 11-12:   Reminder of things to do for the ACT Test on Saturday, December 13th in Aberdeen, Ipswich or Redfield.   Bring your admission ticket and a driver’s license (photo ID), 2 calculators, pencils with erasers, a watch, and possibly a water bottle.  Be sure and show up at the testing location at least 15 minutes early.  It might be a good idea to review last minute formulas and rules.  No caps are to be worn during testing.  No beverage will be allowed in the testing area.  No cell phones are to be used at any time during test (including the break). Testing should conclude around noon.  Those who are taking the writing assessment should be done by 12:45 p.m.  Be sure and do the practice test prior to the test.  Stop by the GO if you need an extra copy. 

Grades 11-12  ACT:  Registration for the February 7 test is due online by January 9.   Register at www.actstudent.org   and pay with a credit card.  You will test in Aberdeen but be sure to list Groton as your home school.  Remember you must upload a photo to register and then print the admission ticket.  Fee waivers are available – stop by the GO.  Juniors please see Mrs. Sternhagen and read the email sent to you last week.   Test dates are:  February 7, April 18 and June 13.    ACT sign up help is available from Mrs. Sternhagen – come to the GO on Wednesday during advisory and bring your computers. 

Grades 11-12:  The following college representatives will be in the School Counseling Office to visit with students.  Please make arrangements with your teachers.
