(think old-school...Monopoly, Candy Land, Sorry, etc.).

some money! The deadline for the Big Idea competition is October
31st. 1st place prize is $1000 and a $1000 scholarship to Northern or

Testing – ACT:
ACT registration for the October 26 test is due online by September 27. Register at www.actstudent.org
and pay with a credit card. You can test in Aberdeen or Groton. Be
sure to list Groton as your home school. Remember you must upload a
photo to register and then print the admission ticket. Fee waivers are
available – stop by the GO.
2. Wendys
High School Heisman – seniors can apply – based on academics, athletics, leadership. First 25,000 to complete the application get a $10 Wendys gift card.

2. US Senate Youth Competition and Scholarship competition:
Opportunity to win a free trip to Washington, DC for two SD students. GHS
will select two students to take the test and send the results to the
state. Only students who hold an elected or appointed office in
student government, civic or educational
organizations can apply. Test covers government and history. Fill out
form and write a paragraph on why you’d like to take the test and bring
to Mrs. Sternhagen by Monday, Sept.23.
3. Volunteers needed to work
at Homework Help. See Mrs. Sternhagen if you are interested in volunteering.
4. Grades 10-12:
Scrubs Camp for students interested in health care careers. Attend one of several camps www.scrubscamps.sd.gov
. Aberdeen is October 15 – fill out form and mail by Oct. 1.
Form requires a recommendation and parent signatures so fill out
early. Focus careers this year are nursing, dental assisting,
occupational therapy, EMT?paramedic, cRNA –
nurse anesthetist, 2 more careers
Grade 10: If you are taking both the PLAN and the PSAT, you can bring one check for the total of $26.95 ($12.95
for PLAN + $14 for PSAT) made payable to GHS.
