MS/HS Bulletin April 4

Groton Area School Patrons,

Official ballots are ready for the upcoming April 11th MS/HS Bond Election.  As a result you may begin voting absentee in person until 5:00 pm the day before the election at the MS/HS Business Office located at 406 North 2nd Street in Groton.  Any application for a ballot by authorized messenger must be received by School Business Manager, Mike Weber, before 3:00 pm on election day.  Voters who can use an authorized messenger are those who are confined due to sickness or disability.

All voters who wish to vote absentee by mail or want to take their ballot with them from the Business Office to vote at home will first have to complete and submit an absentee ballot application.  Voters may contact the School Business Office at (605) 397-2351 for a copy of the application or the form can be printed from the website of the South Dakota Secretary of State at https://sdsos.gov/elections-voting/voting/absentee-voting.aspx

With any of the aforementioned voting options, you will be required to provide valid photo identification before receiving your ballot.  Eligible voters not yet registered must do so prior to 5:00 pm, Monday, March 27th.

POPS concert tickets are available at the business office or Loris pharmacy for $5 in advance or for $7 at the door.

Good luck to the track team at Ipswich today.  Dismissal time is 10:00 a.m. 

Cheerleaders that have not voted please come to the office today to get that done.

Tickets for the 1st Annual Middle School Talent Show are now available. General Admission is $5.00. Please see any MS Music Student to purchase a ticket. The show will be held on Friday April 21st at 7 pm and will also feature the 6th/JH Bands and JH Show Choir. Come enjoy a night of talent, music, and popcorn!

Students and Staff – There will be a Blood Drive on April 17 at the Legion Club Room.  You must be 16 or older.  If interested call June Ackman at 397-8369.

There will be a football meeting Friday right after school for grades 8-11.  If you can’t attend the meeting see Mr. Wanner next week. 

FBLA meeting Thursday, April 6th during lunch in Ms. Lingbeck's room.  Bring your own lunch!

Anyone who would like to model their prom dress in the style show, please contact to Mrs. Tietz or Madison Sippel or just come sign up in the FACS room.  The style show is on Thursday, April 27 at 7pm.
If you are interested in performing as one of the talent acts at the style show, please contact Mrs. Tietz by April 13.

Summer registration for dual credit is now open.  Applications are on the counter in the office.  Please see Dr. Schwan for questions.

Grades 11-12:   Reminder of things to do for the ACT Test on Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Groton or Aberdeen.   Bring your admission ticket and a driver’s license (photo ID), 2 calculators, pencils with erasers, a watch, and possibly a water bottle.  Be sure and show up at the testing location at least 15 minutes early (7:45).  It might be a good idea to review last minute formulas and rules.  No caps are to be worn during testing.  No beverage will be allowed in the testing area.  No cell phones are to be used at any time during test (including the break). Testing should conclude around noon.  Those who are taking the writing assessment should be done by 12:45 p.m.  Be sure and do the practice test prior to the test.  Stop by the School Counseling Office if you need an extra copy.

Grades 11-12:  The following college representatives will be in the School Counseling Office to visit with students.  Please make arrangements with your teachers.
