MS/HS Bulletin November 9

Table Talks today. 

Give Joy the Christmas!  Pack a shoebox with gifts for children around the world with Operation Christmas Child.  These presents help spread joy to kids where they seldom see anything joyful.  Talk to Mr. Franken, Mrs. Tietz, or Miss Lingbeck for more information on how to pack your shoebox.

JH Band you will rehearse in the arena during band time.

Cast and Crew of “Blithe Spirit” – congratulations on a show amazingly well done! Your t-shirts ended up costing $10 apiece. Please bring your money to Mrs. Honerman no later than this Thursday, November 10.

Grades 9-12 boys’ basketball meeting in Mr Kurths room Wednesday, November 16th right after school.

Parents of wrestlers in grades 6-8, meet in the wrestling room at 6:30 pm on November 13th with coach Darin Zoellner.

FCCLA will be selling tiger tattoos and eyeblacks at lunch this week!

*Note the time change.  All Junior and Senior snow queen candidates should meet in the library on Wednesday Nov 9th at 12:35 to turn in applications and for group pictures.

Mr. Helvig’s 3rd hour study hall will meet in Mr. Franken’s classroom today.  (Wednesday)

Thursday’s menu will be hot dogs, baked beans, broccoli and dip and fresh and canned fruit.

Our Groton Area Volleyball Team will take on West Central in Madison in a Sweet 16 Game at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 10.  The winner will advance to the State Tournament.   Madison will livestream the Sweet 16 game on its livestream channel:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJ3qcUvSNwh1QG_6hIe_WKA

There will be a pep rally for the volleyball team on Wednesday at 3:06 in the arena.  We will use the advisory schedule.

Debaters and oral interpers, please sign up for the November 18-19 meet in Mitchell by Wednesday of this week.

We are very excited to inform you that the Groton Youth Rally will feature the Bruce Crevier family and their Spin-tacular Basketball program called Champions Forever, at the Groton Area High School Arena. The Rally will be on Wed., Nov. 16th at 7pm. Doors will open at 6:30pm.
Please reserve this night for a great time here in Groton and bring the whole family. Tickets will be sold for $5 in advance at the Groton Dairy Queen and Aberdeen Anchors of Faith, and $5 at the door, family rate- $20.  You may call for tickets or more information at 377-0709 or 397-8647. All ages are welcome!!

Snow Queen Talent Competition forms are in the office. Forms need to be turned in to Mr. Swanson by Monday, November 14. Those performing will have run-through on Thursday, November 17 at 3:30 PM. Preliminary cuts may be made if there is a large number of performers.

MS/HS Band Members please bring turn in your fundraising orders to Mrs. Yeigh and Mr. Fordham as soon as possible!

MS/HS Lifetouch picture retakes are on Thursday, November 17.

FBLA will be hosting a blood drive today, in the Groton High School Gym from 8:45-2:30, please contact Ms. Lingbeck or an FBLA member if you would like to schedule an appointment to donate!

The Annual School Wide Food Drive will be on Wednesday, November 9.  Meet in the arena lobby at 6:00.  Pizza and pop will be served after we're done collecting food to help those in need in our community.

Grade 12:  Financial Aid Information Night (FAIN) will be held on Monday, November 14 at 5:30 pm in the computer lab.  This is for you and your parents.  It is extremely important that you and your parents attend if you are interested in applying for loans, grants, or workstudy to help finance your college education.  Becky Pribyl, a financial aid officer, will be giving the presentation on financial aid programs and the FAFSA.  She is an excellent presenter and is planning to stay and help you and your parents get started with the FAFSA.  You may want to bring your 2015 tax information and your computer.   NEW- free t-shirts, pendants, cups from the colleges at FAIN.
 
Grade 12:  NCRC Testing has been re-scheduled for December 2nd.  We will keep the same testing times and groups.  Please let Mrs. Sternhagen know if you have questions.

Grades 6-12:  Honor roll is posted outside the School Counseling Office.  Congratulations to all who made it!
 
Grade 9:  Please return your pathway forms to Mrs. Sternhagen
