MS/HS Bulletin April 25

Congratulations to these Artists who received awards at the All Dakota High School Art Exhibition at the Granary on Friday:
Megan U - Fridays Student Choice Award for her Mixed Media
Jasmine S - Thursdays and Fridays Student Choice Award for her Wire Sculpture
Angela L - Judge's Choice Award for her Colored Pencil Drawing

All cheerleaders come to Dr. Schwan's office today to vote for awards.

If you are planning to go to the Kiwanis Relays tomorrow reminder of School Board Policy – Students are not allowed to attend regular school activities which are held during the school day unless they are watching a sibling, they are accompanied by a parent, and are not on the ineligibility list.  All students meeting the aforementioned criteria and who are planning on attending must have their parents notify the office at least on day in advance.  Any violations will result in an unexcused absence.  This includes any k-12 classroom or co-curricular activity, unless it is approved by the principal.  All work must be completed prior to being excused. 

The Girls Golf Meet at Milbank has been postponed.

Any HS student interested in helping out at the Groton Kiwanis Relays track meet on Tuesday, please contact Mr. Schuring.

Drivers Ed registration form and money are due by Thursday, April 28.

Football and Girls Basketball players turn in your camp registration forms to Mr. Wanner as soon as possible. 

Girls grades 9-11 interested in playing basketball this summer there will be a meeting in Mr. Wanner’s room on Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. 

Football meeting for boys (8-11) on Friday at 3:15 p.m. in Mr. Wanner’s classroom. 

Reminder that you can’t park in the St. John’s Lutheran parking lot across the street to the south. 

Grades 3-6 YMCA archery registration forms are in the office.

We have numerous students on the Owe List for various things. Please see Mrs. Morehouse to pay your dues and fines.

A student/parent info meeting about proposed Washington D.C. trip will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 28th in the arena.

JH Track meet for today as been cancelled.

Juniors or seniors looking for volunteer hours: The library will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting June 7th and going through July 28th. We are looking for readers on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 10:00-10:15.  On July 5th, the library will be closed, and there will be no story time that week.  If you are interested, please let Dr. Schwan know.  Thanks!

There will be a free Tdap vaccine for students ages 11-14, who have not previously been vaccinated, on Tuesday, April 26.  Return the completed consent form to the office.  Consent forms are on the counter in the office.  The shots will be given at the HS building.

Congratulations to the February Students of the Month:  6th - Allyssa L, 7th - Isaac S, 8th -Kya J, 9th - Emily T, 10th - Alexis G, 11th - Gabrielle K, 12th - Kelsey I.  Please bring profiles back to Mrs. Sternhagen.  Photos will be taken on Wednesday during Advisory.

Grades 11-12:  The following college representatives will be in the School Counseling Office to visit with students.  Please make arrangements with your teachers.

Grades 11-12  ACT:  Registration for the June 11, 2016 test is due online by May 6, 2016 .  Register at www.actstudent.org   and pay with a credit card.  You will test in Aberdeen but be sure to list Groton as your home school.  Remember you must upload a photo to register and then print the admission ticket.  Fee waivers are available – stop by the GO.  Other test dates are: Sept, Oct. and Dec.   ACT sign up help is available from Mrs. Sternhagen.
