MS/HS Bulletin April 1

There will be no tutoring until April 6.  At that time, you will meet in Mrs. Honerman’s classroom.

Starting April 6, ICU will again meet in the library conference room. 

Reminder:  All cheerleaders please bring you uniform and pompoms to the office by Friday. 

All Juniors...please check at home and bring clear rope lights and clear Christmas lights to Mrs. Kurtz's room for Prom.  Thank you!

High School Dual Credit Updates:
  • Summer registrations are due to Dr. Schwan by Wednesday, May 18th.
  • Fall registrations are due by August 1st.
  • Tuition increase, effective fall 2016, to $48.33 per credit.

Golden Living Center is looking for volunteers to help with BINGO on Saturdays.  Please call Pam Hanson at 397-2365.

The April FCCLA meeting will be on Wednesday, April 6 during advisory in the FACS room.

3rd Annual DI Race to Globals, 5K walk/run or bike event is to be held Saturday, April 23.  Sign up by April 2nd to be guaranteed a t-shirt.  Forms are in the office. 

If you would like to model your prom dress in the FCCLA Style Show on Thursday, April 28, please sign up in the FACS room or email Mrs. Tietz.

If you are interested in entertaining at the FCCLA Style Show by singing or playing piano, please contact Mrs. Tietz.

The sign-up for grand march, post prom and prom pictures is in the library.

Students planning to attend prom and post-prom will sign up in the library.  When the students sign up, they will also need to bring a $20 prom fee or $40 per couple fee.  This fee will be returned to all students who stay through the entire prom and post-prom party.  If there is a valid reason that a student is not able to stay for the post-prom, a parent must notify the school by Monday, April 11th.  If this prior notice is given, the fee will be reimbursed.

If you have a prom date from out of town, please stop by the library and pick up a form that will need to be filled out by your date and your dates principal.  Forms are due by April 11.

8th graders (who will be 9th graders next year): SD School of Mines and Technology will be hosting camps throughout the summer. Camp topics include: Wild Weather, Entrepreneurship Boot Camp, Build the Future, Mining and Explosives, Chemical and Biological Engineering Summer Institute, and Green Chemistry. Scholarships are available. For more information see Ms. Seeklander.

6-8 Graders AND Teachers!: NASA, LATI, and SDSU are sponsoring a two Summer Bridge program August 1-5, on the campus of SDSU. One program is Gallery of Echoes (Where art meets science) and the second program is Minecraft Camp (Serious gaming meets flight). Scholarships for students and teachers are available. See Ms. Seeklander for more information.

The Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering is once again host the Girls, Engineering, Math, & Science (GEMS) workshop for 8th grade girls on Saturday, April 2nd. This workshop will be held in Brookings, on the SDSU campus, and will cost $35. GEMS registration can be completed using the following link:  http://www.sdstate.edu/engr/camps/registration.cfm.

There will be two groups of students for ELA and Math – one will test in the morning and one in the afternoon.  Testing groups will be read to you during English classes and will be posted outside the conference room/computer lab and Mrs. Sternhagen’s room.     
DSTEP science testing grades 8 and 11 will take place during science class.
