MS/HS Bulletin September 10

Student Bulletin
FFA will have a meeting on Thursday during Advisory in Mr. Franken’s room.

CCD classes for St. Elizabeth Ann Seton sixth, seventh and eighth graders will begin today at 3:45 p.m.  Grades nine and ten will meet at 6:30 and the juniors and seniors will meet at 7 p.m. tonight. 

Student Council meeting today during advisory in the conference room.

Homecoming shirt order forms are in the office.  They are due along with payment on Friday.

Groton United Methodist Youth Group (grades 9-12) will meet tonight at 7:00 p.m.

Sand Lake National Wildlife Refuge is presenting “Blue Goose Day” on Sunday, September 14 from 12:00 – 4:00pm.  For more information go to www.fws.gov/refuge/sand_lake.  There is also a poster on the bulletin outside of the office.

Order forms for “Volley for the Cure” t-shirts are on the counter in the office.  They are due Friday, September 19. 

Grades 11-12:  Exploring College Options – Representatives from Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Pen ad Stanford will be in Sioux Falls to visit with students on Wednesday, September 17 at 7:30 pm the Sheraton (1211 Northwest Avenue).  If you are interested, please RSVP at www.exploringcollegeoptions.org/   Click on SD and then scroll down and click register.  See Mrs. Sternhagen if you have questions. 

Grades 11-12:  US Senate Youth Competition and Scholarship competition:  Opportunity to win a free trip to Washington, DC for two SD students.  GHS will select two students to take the test over government and history.   Only students who hold an elected or appointed office in student government, civic or educational organizations can apply.  Stop by the GO if you are interested.  Deadline Friday, Sept. 19

Grade 12 2014 Critical needs workforce scholarship at SD technical schools:  http://www.lakeareatech.edu/future/criticalneedsscholarship/CriticalNeedsScholarshipApplication.pdf   This new program sounds amazing - a $5000 scholarship for 2 years for students interested in certain degree programs at the technical schools (see web site).  Apply early to be accepted as only a limited number of students are accepted into each program.  

 Grades 7-12:  All boys and girls soccer players need to bring $5 to Mrs. Sternhagen for parents day gifts by Thursday.  Parents Day is Saturday September 13.

Grade 12: ACT:  ACT registration for the October 25 test is due online by September 19.   Register at www.actstudent.org   and pay with a credit card.  ACT Sign up Seminar in Mrs. Sternhagen’s office during Advisory Today.  Bring your computers.  Let’s get registered for the Oct. 25 test!

 Grade 12:  Wendys High School Heisman  http://www.wendyshighschoolheisman.com/  List Mrs. Sternhagen as the Reviewer.  Make sure your GPA, Rank and ACT are accurate.  This must be checked by Mrs. Sternhagen.  Local Deadline will be September
30th as the site becomes hard to access the next week.
