MS/HS Bulletin January 10, 2014



 
CONGRATULATIONS to the following students for being selected to the Middle School All-State Band:  Kylie K, Kaitlin K, Emily T, Tylan G, Lexie G.  These students had to perform a variety of selections and were scored based on speed, accuracy and tone.  Kylie and Lexie had the highest scores in the state!!!  Good job!  They will travel to Pierre in February to rehearse with other students from throughout the state and perform a concert on March 1.

Grade 12:  Summer University Program at Crazy Horse through USD.  This 8.5 week summer program at Crazy Horse allows students to enroll in college credit hours in math, English, Native American Studies, Life Skills and an internship.  It is recommended that applicants be between the ages 17-21 years, have a high school diploma or GED, and have a GPA of 2.0.  It is also required that you have an ACT score.  Please see Mrs. Sternhagen. Grade 12:  In order to be eligible for the best financial aid package you must meet your school’s financial aid priority filing dates.   Most SD schools have a priority date of March 1 but some schools (U of  M for example) may have earlier deadlines.   Be sure and go to www.fafsa.gov  NOT fafsa.com

 

Grade 11 and 12  ACT:  ACT registration for the February 8 test is due online by January 10th   Register at www.actstudent.org   and pay with a credit card.  You can test in Aberdeen.  Be sure to list Groton as your home school.  Remember you must upload a photo to register and then print the admission ticket.  Fee waivers are available – stop by the GO.  Juniors please see Mrs. Sternhagen.

 

Grades 11-12:  The following college representatives will be in the School Counseling Office to visit with students.  Please make arrangements with your teachers.
