MS/HS Bulletin January 16

Student council meeting on Friday, January 20th during lunch.  Come to the meeting with an idea for a February event.  We also need to talk about the state convention.  Dr. Schwan

MathCounts meets Tuesday morning, beginning at 7:45 a.m.

FCCLA will be sponsoring Bake Sale at the Girls Basketball Game vs. Roncalli on Friday, Jan. 20.  Come get some tasty treats!

The girls’ basketball game scheduled at Sisseton has been rescheduled to Thursday, January 26. 

South Dakota National Guard is sponsoring a Dodgeball Tournament on January 18.  There are fliers hanging throughout the school for more information.

Seniors--Early senior privileges are scheduled to begin on February 24th.  You will not receive early privileges on February 24th if you have had any unexcused absences this school year, suspensions for behavior, or more than one grade of a "D" at the time of early granting.  Please read the handbook regarding the criteria for early senior privileges as well as the requirements for maintaining privileges throughout the remainder of the year, most specifically the GPA and grade requirements.  You will receive an e-mail from me on February 21st if you are not eligible for early senior privileges.  Please see me with any questions, Dr. Schwan. 

South Dakota 4-H seeks 4th, 7th and 9th grade writers to enter the South Dakota 4-H - Quotes to Live by Essay Contest. The Quotes to Live By Essay Contest is a fun, easy and effective way to enhance your school's or 4-H club's character efforts. The contest is open to all South Dakota Schools, Home Schools and Individual 4-H members.  Fourth, seventh and ninth grade students may enter the contest. Cash prize awards are given to the top five places at each grade level. First Place - $200; Second Place - $150; Third Place - $100; 4th Place -- $75; and Fifth Place - $50.  Plus, teachers of First Place winners will receive $100 to put toward character education resources. For more information please see Ms. Seeklander. Essays are due March 1, 2017.

Ages 16 and up -Job Corps representative:  Wednesday, Jan. 18 from 8:30 – 9:00 am.  Job Corps is a tuition free training and educational program where youth can further their education and gain new skills.  We train you in a successful career and assist you in networking with employers and community leaders.  Come learn how Job Corps encourages growth and success in a community!

Grade 11:  Youth Business Adventure:  Applications are due Jan. 26 to Mrs. Sternhagen.  YBA is a 1 week program held in June in which students learn about economic, management, and market-oriented issues.  It is a leadership experience in which all students (regardless of what career interest area) will benefit.  Cost is $250 but financial assistance is available if needed.  The application was emailed to you on Jan. 4.
