MS/HS Bulletin December 16

Lunch Line Order will change on Monday, December 19:  1st Lunch  7,6,8     2nd lunch 12,11,10,9

If you plan to attend the Elementary Christmas Concert on Wednesday, December 21 please be aware of School Board Policy:  ***Students are not allowed to attend regular school activities which are held during the school day unless they are watching a sibling, they are accompanied by a parent, and are not on the ineligibility list. All students meeting the aforementioned criteria and who are planning on attending must have their parents notify the office at least one day in advance. Any violations will result in an unexcused absence. This includes any K-12 classroom or co-curricular activity, unless it is approved by the principal. All work must be completed prior to being excused.

FCCLA Fruit, Meat, & Cheese orders will be in on Monday, Dec. 19.  FCCLAers - make arrangements to get your orders picked up on MONDAY and delivered within 24 hours.

There will not be rehearsal for the one act, “Shakespeare for Kids,” today (Friday, December 16) or Saturday (December 17). Rehearsal will then resume on Monday (December 19) from 5-8. Thank you!

There will be a Women in Science conference for Middle School and High School girls on March 8th in Aberdeen. If you are interested please see Ms. Seeklander for registration information. Thank you.

The Sugar Babes, Sweet Sensations, and Spice Girlz will be sponsoring a bake sale starting at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16 in the arena lobby.  Proceeds will go to playground equipment at the Groton swimming pool. 

Yearbooks are on sale for $50.00 at this time.  After December 31 the price will go up to $55.00
Please order your yearbook with Mrs. Morehouse.

Attention all 6-8th graders: The Elks Lodge is sponsoring the Elks Drug Awareness Program Poster, Essay, and/or video contest. All entries must be received by December 31, 2016. If you are interested please see Ms. Seeklander for the contest rules and forms. Thank you.

Good luck to the girls’ basketball teams against Redfield/Doland. 

Good luck to the wrestlers on Saturday at Madison.

Open Gym on Sunday from 2:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Grades 9-12 - If you are planning to change your schedule please make sure you are taking the required courses:  
Grade 9:  Math, English, World History, Physical Science, PE/Health
Grade 10:  Math, English, Geography/Computer, Biology
Grade 11:  Math, English, US History, Chemistry
Grade 12:  English, Government/Personal Finance
You must also take one year of fine arts and one year of language, CTE (tech, facs or ag) to graduate.  For the SD Opportunity Scholarship you must take 4 math, 4 science and 2 language or CTE.   Please see Mrs. Sternhagen with questions. 

Grades 11-12:  The following college representatives will be in the School Counseling Office to visit with students.  Please make arrangements with your teachers.

Grades 11-12  ACT:  Registration for the February 11 test is due online by January 13, 2016 .  Register at www.actstudent.org   and pay with a credit card.  You will test in Aberdeen but be sure to list Groton as your home school.  Remember you must upload a photo to register and then print the admission ticket.  Fee waivers are available – stop by the GO.  Other test dates are: Feb., April, and June.   See Mrs. Sternhagen if you have questions. 
 
Grade 9:  Pathway forms need to be returned to Mrs. Sternhagen:   Thomas Cranford, Cyruss DeHoet, Jonathan Doeden, Joseph Gleason, Tadyn Glover,  Peyton Johnson,  Colby Merkel, Grady O’Neill, Mackenzie Patton, Hunter Schaller, Garret Schroeder, Madeline Schuelke, Mugel See, Darien Shabazz, Jamesen Stange, Noah Tullis, Lee Williams. 
 
Class changes can be made December 19-20, 2016 for second semester.
