MS/HS Bulletin January 27


The wrestling group picture and any individual memory mate photos that did not get done will be on Tuesday, January 27th at 3:30.

Chapter MathCounts meets Tuesday morning, beginning at 7:45 a.m., in Mrs. Johnson's room #226.

Mrs. Harry's 6th hour study hall will meet in Mrs. Tietz's room all week.

Students--remember you are not able to drive during lunch.  Violators will lose open-campus privileges for 1 month

Students’ grades 8-12 are invited to the Brown County Teen Court Open House on Thursday, January 29 at 6:00 p.m. on the 3rd floor of the Brown County Courthouse.  There will be a mock trial demonstration.  Come and see what being a Teen Court Volunteer is all about.  Pizza and pop will be served. 

Good luck to the JHB Boys’ Basketball teams today against Warner.  7th grade plays at 4:00 then 8th at 5:00.

Good luck to the Girls’ Basketball teams against Britton/Hecla tonight. 

Grade 11:  Please note the email sent to you by Mrs. Sternhagen on Thursday, January 22nd regarding the Dual Credit options for summer 2015.  The reduced tuition price will be in effect for students entering grade 12 in the fall of 2015.  These summer 2015 courses will count for college graduation but will not be part of your high school transcript nor count for you high school GPA.

Grade 12:  Summer University Program at Crazy Horse through USD.  This 8.5 week summer program at Crazy Horse allows students to enroll in college credit hours in math, English, Native American Studies, Life Skills and an internship.  It is recommended that applicants be between the ages 17-21 years, have a high school diploma or GED, and have a GPA of 2.5.  It is also required that you have an ACT score of 21.  Please see Mrs. Sternhagen. Grades 10-11:  SDSU Health Professions Career Camp at SDSU Brookings July 14-17.  Cost $100.  Deadline is April 15 but fills up before that date.  Apply online at www.sdstate.edu/nurs/outreach/health-camp; Nurse camp June 9-13 in Rapid City

Grades 9-11:  USD Healthcare Career Summer Camp June 14-19, 15 at USD.  Tuition is $100.  App. Due April 1. (emailed the app to you on Dec. 10)

Grade 11:  June 20-25 A Neuharth Free Spirit and Jounalism Conference at the Newseum in Washington, DC.  Free trip, $1000 scholarship for student interested in journalism careers.  Apply at freespirit.org .   Deadline is February 1.

Grade 11:  SDSU Junior Day Saturday, Jan. 31.  Register online at www.sdstate.edu/junoirday

Grade 11:  Youth Business Adventure:  Applications are due Feb. 2 to Mrs. Sternhagen.
Grade 12:  NSU free app week Jan. 26 – 30, 2015.  Also free apps if you attend a Northern Bound Day (next one Jan. 30 1-5 pm)
